Hydrogen

Hydrogen: Production and Application
1. H2 Production

Hydrogen is produced mainly from fossil fuels, and pollutants occur in the current hydrogen production process. Therefore, many researches are being carried out on methods for improving the yield of hydrogen and reducing the amount of pollutant generated in the process of producing hydrogen using fossil fuel as presently. Also, a method of producing hydrogen at a high yield without generating pollutants from new raw materials beyond the conventional way of using fossil fuels has been studied. In addition to research on raw materials for production, research on on-board hydrogen production equipment that uses fuel for existing vehicles is under way.

2. H2 Application

Hydrogen is a non - toxic fuel that does not emit pollutants because it combines with oxygen in the air to produce water in the combustion products. Hydrogen can be transported as gas or liquid. Since hydrogen has a high energy density, it can reduce the energy loss during transport compared to electrical energy by about one tenth. It is possible to achieve high efficiency and low emissions compared to existing power sources using hydrogen fuel cells, hydrogen internal combustion engines and hydrogen-added internal combustion engines.
